Interior

Flat - Flat paints help hide imperfections but are hard to clean. Flat paint is mainly used on ceilings.

Egg-Shell - Egg-Shell has slightly more luster than flat paints. It can be washed and resists stains. It has pretty good bonding power. All paint in bathrooms needs to be Egg-Shell or better to handle the moisture. Egg-Shell is an excellent choice for all walls in your home.

Semi-Gloss - Semi-Gloss holds up to cleaning longer and is more resist to stains. It has excellent bondability. Good to use on walls subject to wear and bathrooms. Good for doors, windows, and trim.

Gloss - The most durable and easy to keep clean. It shows all imperfections though. Its good for rails, cabinets, jambs, window sills, doors, and trim.


Exterior

Flat - Flat does a wonderful job hiding siding dents and dings but it does not stand up to time very well. Don't be surprised when it peels off in a year or two. Its good for rough wood, fences, gates, trim & stucco.

Satin - Satin holds up to weather better and has a higher bonding power, without really showing up imperfections. Good for aluminum and vinyl siding, smooth wood, stucco, and trim.

Gloss - Excellent bonding power and holds up well to weather. Its very glossy and will make every nick, ding, crack and everything else jump out at you. Its good for trim.
